Virginia Village

Thanks to Kelly Ballantyne of Edible Backyards for All and his brother, Jeff, the Cottage on Bails Place now has a permaculture vegetable and herb garden in place.  The guys helped plant eggplant, collard greens, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, bell pepper, cabbage, peas, beans, onion, squash, zucchini, parsley, basil, oregano, thyme, spinach and lettuce.  Carrots, kale, Swiss chard and dill were recently added, and there already was rhubarb and mint in place.  There is also rosemary and marjoram in pots.

We just expanded our backyard garden to about 4 times its previous size!  We've started a number of seeds that will be planted there, including tomatoes, squash, eggplant, watermelon and more.  We also planted a strawberry container on the patio - another new venture for us.
